Discovery Labs Center for Breakthrough Medicines is seeking an individual with proven experience, exceptional talent, and a tremendous vision for growth to fill the Head of Marketing role and to help CFBM achieve its goal of being the top Advanced Therapies CDMO. We seek an enterprising and highly analytical leader who will own the entire marketing, lead generation strategy and execution. Initially you will roll up your sleeves, wrap your arms around the marketing and lead generation and strategize with other members of the Executive Team for the future vision and growth of CFBM. You will take our marketing budget and supercharge it to create massive growth in ROI. This role requires deep insight and market intelligence of drivers, size, and unmet customer needs. The Head of Marketing has ownership and accountability for the entire marketing strategy and all channels and execution supporting them.


  • Own the mission of creating a world-class marketing organization to support driving the Cell and Gene Therapy/Advanced Therapies market
  • Create awareness of and develop CFBM’s brand and ensure it is consistently and fully represented at all touchpoints
  • Lead development of a brand competitive strategy and plan to ensure preparedness and appropriate differentiation and response to potential in class cell and gene therapies
  • Partner with other members of the management team to execute the current corporate strategic plan, and develop future plans
  • Analytically maintain, develop, and communicate a deep knowledge of trends, customer needs, and competitive activity
  • Strategize and drive for continuous improvement which includes collecting feedback from customers and internal stakeholders, analyzing market data to propose new features, products, partnerships, technologies, or other ideas that can be leveraged from customer insights
  • Manage a team that can drive business growth across all customer segments and profiles, and share accountability with the marketing function for improving the individual customer experience and strategy
  • Collaborate with finance business development and management on messaging, pricing strategies, and business models to achieve revenue goals
  • Identify and resolve issues across the marketing and account management functions
  • Develop measurable metrics to track and iterate a successful marketing strategy
  • Analyze and communicate market size, share, growth, and status quo techniques/technologies as well as report the quarterly performance of revenues, growth drivers/detractors, industry dynamics, and forecasts for future quarters
  • Deploy the monthly, quarterly, and annual marketing budget with ultimate efficiency to maximize growth in revenue
  • Meet or exceed targets for leads, cost per lead, campaign performance, and ROI
  • Help maximize reach and efficiency by adding new, scalable, and strategic partners
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Analyze consumer behavior and identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share
  • Oversee data mining and monitor marketing strategies that are working in real-time to employ a window of opportunity for maximum ROI
  • Track and forecast all campaign spending and ROI
  • Report weekly to the executive team


  • Bachelors' degree in business/marketing, life sciences or healthcare discipline; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in healthcare marketing and commercial planning experience including experience leading new product launch(s)
  • Solid understanding of cell and gene therapy manufacturing and commercial development processes
  • Experience in a range of R&D, sales, marketing, and business development roles
  • Proven track record of growing revenue through new product development, marketing, branding, and partnerships
  • Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to make sound business cases and judgments
  • Ability to build credibility and relationships across all functions and levels at the organization and with customers
  • Must be collaborative and a team player who knows how to leverage other functions of the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills
  • High level of organization, multi-tasking, and attention to detail
  • Significant general management and P&L experience
  • Ability to craft and execute a business strategy
  • History of decision-making based on business metrics
  • Experience running a marketing department with heavy focus on targeted lead generation
  • Ability to think big and dive down into details quickly and efficiently to solve problems and utilize opportunity
  • Possess strong professional conference presentation skills
  • Experience with Salesforce and Pardot
  • Experience in B2C marketing and prospect targeting through omnichannel marketing
  • Examples supporting past success required
