CBM is located just outside of Philadelphia in the Heart of Cellicon Valley on The Discovery Labs campus set on 300 acres with 2.4 million square feet of life sciences lab and manufacturing space, allowing clients to scale their development and manufacturing needs without ever having to change sites, while providing employees a true community campus experience focused exclusively on life sciences.

Summary

Center for Breakthrough Medicines is seeking an experienced EHS Head responsible for

developing, planning, coordinating and directing environmental and health/safety

activities to ensure employee engagement, regulatory compliance and implement the EHS

management system to protect human health and the environment.

 

Responsibilities

·        Lead the EHS for achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

·        Utilize data analysis methods; develop and maintain annual strategic improvement plans targeted at driving safety performance and achieving leading indicator goals established by EHS Leadership.

·        Oversees Organizational compliance with local, state and Federal Environmental, Health and Safety regulations Including but not limited to Accountable for Local, State and Federal Environmental requirements (Air Emission Permits, Wastewater Discharge Permitting, Hazardous Waste Disposal.

·        Lead the Assessment and implementation of a Risk Based IH (Industrial Hygiene) Program at CBM.

·        Develop and maintain EHS performance metrics and KPI’s for CBM including but not limited to (Leading and Lagging indicators).

·        Team with vendors/suppliers in maintaining EHS P&P of the organization.

·        Collaborative member of the Team on EHS issues and improvements including preventative and corrective action plans.

·        The (future) Biosafety Officer will report to the EHS Head and ensure adequate biosafety training and practices to avoid potential hazards associated with the handling of biological materials.

·        Provide clear responsibilities for safety and environmental performance to staff and hold all Associates accountable for enforcement.

·        Develop, lead and drive initiatives to assess and minimize workplace risks.

·        Develop, implement and maintain CBM’s Emergency Response Plan.

·        Team with Supervisors, Managers and Associates to integrate EHS into daily work activities.

·        Develop and deliver training and/or training tools on all relevant internal EHS initiatives and regulatory requirements.

·        Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

·        Remain up-to-date and informed on existing and proposed changes to EHS regulations and requirements that are applicable and modify internal policies for compliance.

·        Ability to perform essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

·        Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

·        Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and effectively and professionally deal with customers and external contacts to the Company.

·        Compliance with all Human Resource policies.

·        Responsible for the development and implementation of CBM’s occupational health program including medical surveillance, exposure monitoring, hearing conservation, etc.

·        Performs and participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) for planned projects in accordance with OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP regulations and guidance. 

·        Manages the Site Hazardous Material Storage and Hazardous Waste Management Plans for CBM

 

Education & Experience

·        Bachelor’s Degree in a safety related field, Environments Science, or business-related field and/or manufacturing, engineering, or quality experience required.

·        Minimum of 7+ years’ EHS experience within a GMP Manufacturing or Lab environment.

·        2+ years of EHS management experience. Specific knowledge in several EHS processes and practices (OSHA) and state requirements, ergonomics, ISO 14001, etc.)

·        Solid background in ergonomics & Industrial Hygiene.

·        Familiar with transportation safety regulations (DOT/IATA).

·        CSP or CSE certification by BCSP a plus
