UI/UX Design Specialist for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Position Summary:
The Senior/Principal UX Designer will be responsible for leading the User Experience (UX) function for an innovative cell and gene therapy contract manufacturing organization across a broad set of commercial applications and manufacturing processes. This is a new role, providing the opportunity to contribute, architect and grow the UX function and provides a strong platform for more advanced roles within the organization. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an intimate understanding of visual design, user experience, and technology. This person will use their critical thinking and creativity, to produce high quality and consistent work while considering both small details and large-scale strategy. With a collaborative mindset and a passion for teamwork, the individual will bridge communications and advocate for user-centered design approaches across teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
Define product workflows, interactions, and user interfaces, that simplify complex manufacturing operations in close collaboration with manufacturing, testing and quality assurances teams.
Visualize and prototype intended approaches at different levels of fidelity, across conceptual wireframes, interactive prototypes, sketches, design specifications, etc.
Facilitate and participate in user research including customer interviews and usability testing, to validate and improve designs
Adopt data-driven approaches to support design decisions and prioritization, and capture solutions through appropriate documentation for product and engineering teams
Streamline design approaches across product suite for a unified experience
Partner with other departments subject matter experts to develop application interfaces.

Education & Experience
More than 2 years of experience and demonstrable skills in producing design assets for multiple end user platforms including iOS, Android, Web
Excellent understanding of design thinking, agile methodologies.
Experience with common design tools e.g. Sketch, Zeplin, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. + Experience with data visualization.
Prior life experiences doing detailed manual work following work instructions such as machine assembly, high tech equipment servicing, and manufacturing.
Experience combining Industrial IoT devices to improve operator error free execution of tasks, for example using video, sensors, bar code readers
Working knowledge of design software; Adobe Creative Suite/Create Cloud, Balsamiq, Visio, Sketch, InVsion, Framer, Axure Principle, etc
Plus:
Familiarity with technologies from Nymi, tulip.co, Moda-ES or like products
Work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in clinical or manufacturing areas
