GENETWORx is working within the emergency use authorization guidelines from the United States Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") to specifically conduct COVID-19 testing.
Due to explosive growth in laboratory services, GENETWORx is seeking an experienced professional for its newly created Director of Finance position. The position is responsible for performing analysis on organizational or business unit financial and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership and process improvement for operational leaders; providing ad hoc financial reports and analysis to management as necessary; completing the monthly and annual close processes; reviewing financial reports for completeness and accuracy; participating in the annual budgeting process; and preparing accounting reports for executive leadership.
Variance and trend analysis of operations as part of the month-end close process. Meets with lab CEO and Directors frequently to understand the financial operations to ensure accurate reporting.
Coordinates the preparation of month-end and year-end financial close information to meet requirements established by GENETWORx for the facilities including supporting schedules, explanations and areas for improvement.
Supports operations in new business ideas and revenue generating opportunities.
Prepares projections and monitors regularly for changes based on operating results.
Identification of financial related operational improvements through daily interactions with site personnel.
Coaches the operations teams in support of their understanding of their financial results.
Takes an active role to facilitate achievement of expected financial results of activities within specified timeframes with lab CEO, including preparing and providing the reporting and analysis necessary to help identify and implement improvement plans (e.g. productivity analysis, staffing ratios, etc.).
Communicates and collaborates with all levels of the organization to promote a continuous improvement environment.
Participates in strategic and financial planning process.
Participates in the development and implementation of annual operating and capital budget process. Develops and monitors timetables, establishes guidelines for the development of budgets.
Oversight of lab spend against the budget.
Maintains business regulatory compliance.
Provides financial discipline to evaluate strategic business opportunities including participating in quality improvement processes.
Coordinates all external financial reporting and tax reporting related to the lab.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s Degree and/or CPA designation a plus
Experience with financial accounting and analysis in a laboratory environment a plus
7 years’ experience of continuing responsibility in an accounting environment
Experience working closely with CEO, CFO, and COO
Proficient in accounting software packages such as Intacct, Great Plains, SAP
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment: This position is located at the laboratory site in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
