Summary

Tends one or more machine or special purpose machines to crush and or size raw materials to specifications on production basis by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

  • Lifts materials manually or using forklift to secure in fixture or loads automatic feeding device
  • Forklift inspection before every shift
  • Starts machine, engages feed, and observes operation
  • Inspects and sizes products to verify conformance to specifications
  • Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine
  • Replaces worn machine accessories, using hand tools.
  • Tends machines and equipment other than crushing/grinding equipment
  • Must be able to manually load 50 lbs. onto pallet
  • Record and keep accurate records for all production at end of each shift (production report – detailing the day)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but must be able to use hearing protection when needed or required.

The employee must be able to wear a dust respirator, when needed, to perform certain operations. Operators will be required to pass an annual fit test.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
